The Mathematics of Jiří Matoušek is a conference taking place this week at Prague in memory of Jirka Matoušek. Here are the slides of my planned talk on Maestro Jirka Matoušek. This post presents the opening slides for the conference by Imre Barany. Unfortunately, at the last minute I had to cancel my own participation. My planned talk is similar to the one devoted to Jirka that I gave last summer in Budapest. I also wanted to mention a lovely new theorem related to Tverberg’s theorem by Moshe White.

A nice article about the Tverberg Theorem appears in the August 2016, Notices of the American Mathematical Society, where mention is made of Matoušek:

Another earlier paper in the Notices of the AMS (April 2011), also about Tverberg’s Theorem, may also be of interest

Many thanks, Joe!
