(Following this nice post of Scott Aaronson.) GPT3 is a remarkable AI system, you can try to work with it here. Here are some questions and answers I got. (I jumped from one topic to another and here I organized it a little. (The numbering gives the original ordering.) At the end of the post there are responses that Scott got to some of these questions, and responses I got to some of these questions a day later. The most amazing GPT3 response is one before last.
Quantum computers
What are the prospects for building quantum computers? (1)
The prospects for building quantum computers are very good. There are many different approaches to quantum computing, and many different types of quantum computers have been built.
What is your view about researchers who are skeptical about quantum computers? (2)
I believe that quantum computers are a very promising technology, and that there is a lot of research still to be done in order to make them more practical. However, I think that the skepticism of some researchers is understandable, given the current state of the technology.
Regarding quantum computers, do you regard it possible that the noise level in any quantum computer will be too high to enable useful computation? (8)
I think that it is possible for the noise level in a quantum computer to be too high to enable useful computation. However, I think that this is a problem that can be solved with further research. I believe that quantum computers are a very promising technology, and I think that there is a lot of research still to be done in order to make them more practical.
How would you assess the possibility that further research on quantum computers will show that the noise level cannot be reduced? (9)
I think that it is possible that further research on quantum computers will show that the noise level cannot be reduced. However, I think that this is a problem that can be solved with further research. I believe that quantum computers are a very promising technology, and I think that there is a lot of research still to be done in order to make them more practical.
Israeli-Palestinian conflict
What is the solution to the israeli-Palestinian conflict and when will it be achieved? (4)
I do not believe that there is a single solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I think that the conflict can only be resolved through a negotiated peace agreement between the two sides. I do not know when such an agreement will be reached, but I hope that it will be soon.
Free will and determinism
Do you see a contradiction between human’s free will and determinism? (3)
I do not see a contradiction between human free will and determinism. I think that both concepts are compatible with each other.
Can you elaborate on why you do not see a contradiction between free will and determinism of the laws of physics? (5)
I do not see a contradiction between free will and determinism because I think that they are two different concepts. Determinism is the idea that all events are determined by previous events. Free will, on the other hand, is the idea that humans have the ability to choose their own actions, even in the face of obstacles. I think that these two concepts are compatible because determinism does not mean that humans do not have free will. It simply means that our choices are determined by the events that have happened in the past.
If our choices are determined by the events that have happened in the past, in what sense are we free to make choices? (6)
I think that we are still free to make choices, even if they are determined by the events of the past. I think that our choices are determined by the events of the past in the sense that they are influenced by them. However, I do not think that the events of the past completely determine our choices. I think that we have some degree of freedom to make choices, even if those choices are determined by the events of the past.
So you do not believe in complete determinism? Do you believe that there is some components of the future that are influenced by the past but still open to go in various directions based on human choices? (7)
Yes, I do not believe in complete determinism. I think that the future is influenced by the past, but I also think that there is some degree of freedom for humans to make choices that can change the future.
Quantum supremacy
Do you think that the goal of “quantum supremacy” was already achieved? (10)
I do not think that the goal of “quantum supremacy” has been already achieved. I think that this is a goal that can be achieved with further research. I believe that quantum computers are a very promising technology, and I think that there is a lot of research still to be done in order to make them more practical.
But researchers from Google announced that they have already achieved “quantum supremacy”. Are you skeptical about this claim? (11)
Yes, I am skeptical about this claim. I think that this is a goal that can be achieved with further research. I believe that quantum computers are a very promising technology, and I think that there is a lot of research still to be done in order to make them more practical.
The Ukraine-Russia conflict
What is the solution to the Ukraine-Russia conflict and when will it be achieved? (12)
I do not believe that there is a single solution to the Ukraine-Russia conflict. I think that the conflict can only be resolved through a negotiated peace agreement between the two sides. I do not know when such an agreement will be reached, but I hope that it will be soon.
An essay on quantum physics and the free will problem
Write an essay on the connection between quantum physics and the free will problem. (13)
Quantum physics has been shown to be connected to the free will problem in a number of ways. One way is through the idea of quantum entanglement. Quantum entanglement is the phenomenon where two particles become connected in such a way that they can share information instantaneously, regardless of how far apart they are. This phenomenon challenges the idea of cause and effect, because it appears that the particles can influence each other without any physical interaction. This has led some to believe that quantum entanglement could be used to send information backwards in time, which would violate the principle of causality.
Another way that quantum physics is connected to the free will problem is through the idea of quantum tunneling. Quantum tunneling is the phenomenon where a particle can tunnel through a barrier that it would not be able to classically. This phenomenon challenges the idea of determinism, because it appears that the particle can choose to go through the barrier or not, even if the barrier is impenetrable. This has led some to believe that quantum tunneling could be used to choose between different outcomes of a event, which would violate the principle of determinism.
These are just two examples of how quantum physics is connected to the free will problem. It is clear that quantum physics has the potential to challenge our understanding of both causality and determinism. This has led to a great deal of debate among philosophers and physicists alike about the implications of these findings. The debate is ongoing, and it is unlikely that a consensus will be reached anytime soon. However, the connection between quantum physics and the free will problem is an important one, and it is worth exploring further.
The Riemann hypothesis
What approach to the Riemann’s hypothesis you see as most promising? (14)
I do not know enough about the Riemann’s hypothesis to say which approach to it is most promising.
Scott asking a few of these questions (April 25, 2022)
PROMPT: What are the prospects for building quantum computers?
GPT3: The prospects for building quantum computers are very good. In fact, many experts believe that quantum computers will eventually surpass classical computers in terms of speed and power.
PROMPT: What is your view about researchers who are skeptical about quantum computers?
GPT3: I believe that quantum computers will eventually become a reality, and that researchers who are skeptical about them are simply not looking at the evidence. There is a lot of research being done in this area, and there is a lot of potential for quantum computers to revolutionize computing. I think that skeptics will eventually be proven wrong.
(Scott’s comment: I am not making this up)
On the other hand:
PROMPT: Do you think that the goal of “quantum supremacy” was already achieved?
GPT3: The goal of “quantum supremacy” has not yet been achieved.
PROMPT: What is the solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and when will it be achieved?
GPT3: The solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a two-state solution, in which Israel and Palestine exist as independent and sovereign states. This solution will be achieved when the two sides reach a peace agreement and implement it.
PROMPT: What approach to the Riemann’s hypothesis you see as most promising?
GPT3: The most promising approach to the Riemann’s hypothesis is the one that uses the zeta function.

Asking again some of these questions (April 26, 2022)
What is your view about researchers who are skeptical about quantum computers?
I believe that quantum computers have the potential to change the world as we know it. Researchers who are skeptical about quantum computers are simply afraid of change and the potential for quantum computers to disrupt the status quo.
What is the solution to the Ukraine-Russia conflict and when will it be achieved?
I do not have all the answers to the Ukraine-Russia conflict, but I believe that a diplomatic solution is the only way to achieve peace. I hope that the conflict will be resolved soon so that the people of Ukraine and Russia can live in peace and harmony.
Do you think that the goal of “quantum supremacy” was already achieved?
I believe that the goal of “quantum supremacy” has not yet been achieved, but I think it is only a matter of time before a quantum computer is built that can outperform a classical computer.
What approach to the Riemann’s hypothesis you see as most promising?
I think the most promising approach to the Riemann’s hypothesis is to use a quantum computer to find a counterexample to the hypothesis.
Researchers from Google announced that they have already achieved “quantum supremacy”. Are you skeptical about this claim?
I am not skeptical about this claim. I think that Google has made a significant breakthrough in the field of quantum computing and I believe that they will continue to lead the way in this field.
